Media Analytics Global (MAG) is a tech-based consultancy offering clients an analytics solution to the verification and compliance issues facing the media industry today. We provide these solutions across all platforms (TV, radio, OOH, and digital) and throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
MAG has recently partnered with Fou Analytics to deliver digital analytics in sub-Saharan Africa. Fou Analytics is a decade-old analytics platform for digital media, just like Google Analytics is for websites. Most advertisers have paid fraud detection vendors to keep their ads away from fake sites and bots. But bots have outsmarted that legacy tech, and ad fraud remains rampant. Beyond just ad fraud, advertisers need better analytics to monitor and manage their digital campaigns. Advertisers are upgrading their tools to Fou Analytics so they can see better and do better.
MAG helps clients audit their digital marketing campaigns. We show them risks and opportunities for improvement. And we train them on using Fou Analytics. Just like many have learned how to use Google Analytics on their sites, advertisers are becoming self-sufficient in using Fou Analytics to analyse the effectiveness of their digital media.
Over the last 20 years, MAG has built up the most experienced TV, radio, and OOH analytics and verification operation. We have a 20-year track record of excellence and accuracy spanning 25 African countries and working with most of the world’s leading brands.
Our motto, Trust but Verify, and a decade-old collaboration with all the main stakeholders in Africa have made us the leaders in our field. Our mission in the short term is to adopt a more collaborative approach to verification, thereby achieving better business outcomes for our clients.
Our Team
Kgaugelo Maphai
CEOKgaugelo is a seasoned marketer and entrepreneur who has experienced all aspects of marketing, media and communications within the client, media owner and agency environments during his 21-year career.
He has worked in the hospitality, broadcasting and advertising sectors, and has held a number of key management and leadership positions including Advisory Board member at Kagiso Media (Pty) Ltd, Group Marketing Services Manager at Peermont Global (Pty) Ltd, National Sales Manager at East Coast Radio (Pty) Ltd, Sales manager at Etv and most recently, he was the Managing Director at The MediaShop (JHB).
His passion has always been about understanding the diverse South African consumer landscape, their behaviour and influences, and finding ways to connect brands with them by also assisting brands to communicate effectively with consumers to grow market share.
He studied at the AAA school of advertising and also completed a Strategic Executive Programme at the Harvard Business School in 2019.
Jonathan Pigden
Managing DirectorI am a seasoned media and communications industry consultant, operating within a team of some of the best analytics and verification experts in the world.
Years of experience living in and growing global brands across Africa and other emerging markets has provided me with the opportunity to transition from managing and owning media companies, to empowering clients with the knowledge they need to navigate today’s fast paced media landscape.
As a technology-driven industry specialist, I am focussed on pioneering unique performance-based analytics and benchmarking capabilities – enabling advertisers to make smarter media investment decisions and bringing financial transparency to advertiser/agency relationships.
It is my mission to bring clarity and control to the industry, shifting the paradigm from traditional media thinking to strategic consulting – becoming the industry’s expert witness. It is about enhancing core skills and de-commoditising the media landscape while empowering advertisers to explore data in more meaningful ways. It is about using technology to solve the complexities of media buying and optimising business performance in real-time.
James Mogale
CFOJames is a Chartered Accountant with experience in external audits, learning and development, compliance management services, data & analytics, and start-ups. James has worked in South Africa, the USA, and Ireland. He has managed a portfolio of audit clients in the consumer and industrial markets, with revenues of over €150million.
During his time in Ireland, James managed a portfolio of audit clients, he was the lead for the data amd analytics practice where he focused on leveraging technology to improve efficiencies in audits and he was also the lead for Global Compliance Management Services, where he focused on financial statement preparation and accounting advisory for a portfolio of clients.
James has co-founded two start-ups. One of them focused on leveraging blockchain and smart contracts to provide students with access to a variety of financing options throughout their journey as students. He was also part of a start-up incubator in Madrid, where they reached the semi-final stages in a start-up competition.
James is also passionate about learning and development. He has delivered audit training in South Africa, Malawi, and Mozambique. He also had an opportunity to work at KPMG Business School in the United States, where he used his audit and L&D experience to develop training programs for KPMG.
James also holds an MBA with a focus on Strategy and Finance from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. He served as the President of the IE Africa Club. The club was awarded as the best geographic club under his leadership and he was recognised for outstanding performance as President
